The World Stroke Organization, which sponsors World Stroke Day annually, wants you to Act Now by taking these six challenges to lower stroke risk:
- Know the risk factors for stroke— high blood pressure, diabetes, obesity and high blood cholesterol — and keep them in a healthy range.
- Be physically active.
- Eat a healthy diet.
- Limit alcohol consumption.
- Avoid cigarette smoke. If you smoke, seek help to stop now.
- Learn to recognize the warning signs of a stroke and how to take action
F=Face --ask the person to smile if one side of the face appears crooked or drooping. This person maybe having stroke
A=Arms--ask the person to lift both of his/her arms in the air--if he/she has difficulty with one arm this too mig

S=Speech--ask the person to speak. If his/her words are
slurred or they are unable to speak, they might be having a stroke
T=Time--If any of the above symptoms are present you must call 911 immediately in order to make sure that this person reaches the hospital FAST
